The Super League Skippers are acting as Ambassadors for the new fund-raising initiative designed to help provide lifelong support for seriously injured Rugby League players from both the amateur and professional ranks.

The RFL Benevolent Fund have helped to form the Garry Purdham Memorial Trust.  Garry played professional rugby for Whitehaven and Workington Town for over 12 years before returning to Egremont Rangers.

In October Thomas Brewster is going to be competing in the Men’s Health Survival of the fittest for Try Assist. Thomas says "The challenge to me is more than just completing the UK’s toughest assault course, but also signifies the end of a long recovery from a serious rugby injury. In 2006 I sustained an injury which at the time had a high probability of never being able to walk again."

Earlier this year Tony Colliinson ran the Belfast Marathon and raised £317 for the Benevolent Fund in a time of 3hr 12min 59 secs.  Now he is getting fit to run the Nottingham Marathon on the 12th September.

Ask  any  coach  at  any  level  of  any  sport  how  difficult  a  job  coaching  can  be,  you  can  be   sure  of  the  same  answers. Stressful, frustrating, pressure, time consuming are just a few that come to mind.
None  of  this  however  is  putting  off  Luke  Bryan,  who  has  just  completed  his  level  one  Rugby  League  coaching  badges.  A  great  achievement  made  more  remarkable  by  the  fact  Luke  is  Paralysed  from  the neck  down.

Leeds based amateur side, Wortley Dragons, have continued their support of the RFL Benevolent Fund with a donation of £250.
