In the event of being seriously injured the RFL Operations Department need to be notified as soon as possible (Tel.0844477713 Ext.6.) The RFL will then contact Dave Phillips, the RFL Benevolent Fund Welfare Officer. He will then contact the club officials and determine the nature and severity of the injury. In the event of a serious injury he will contact the family and arrange to see them and the player. He will make arrangements to visit the club and meet with their officials. Where appropriate he will make an offer of immediate financial assistance.

If the injury is not serious, a call will be made to the next of kin and the position explained, which will lead to the end of his involvement.

There has recently been a few cases of seriously injured rugby players that the Benevolent Fund have been unaware of. In the case of such incidents, please contact Steve Ball directly at the RFL Benevolent Fund.
