Objectives “For the relief of people (and their dependants) who play, assist or who have played or assisted in the game of Rugby League in the UK or for a team affiliated to an association primarily based in the UK and who are in hardship or distress as a result of a serious injury, resulting in life changing circumstances caused, through playing or training for the game of Rugby Football League or when travelling to or from a game or training session." Investment PolicyThe Trustees agreed to administer an investment strategy to maximise income whilst protecting capital without taking undue risks. Monies to be protected in order to secure the long term objectives of the Fund and the sustained individual projects it currently supports. Grant policyThe Trustees agree to administer the funds based on the general principle each application will be considered on its own merit. - The Trustees shall deploy a Welfare Officer to provide mentoring and guidance assistance to all applicants, as a core strategy to its advise service.
- Grant assistance to be given to improve the quality of life and the general well- being of the beneficiary.
- Acknowledgement may be given to newly injured individuals who may need a high level of grant support. This does not preclude individuals whose injuries were diagnosed before the Trusts initiation in 2005.
- The Trustees may support a Discretionary Hardship Appeal, usually not more than twice in total in any financial year and for sums not generally exceeding £1000.00
Project Support- The Trustees prioritise support for cases involving Rugby League related injuries or illnesses. Highlighting its assistance caused by recent participatory injuries or events.
- Trustees are mindful to assist towards the rehabilitation and improvement of the beneficiaries own physical status.
- Assistance towards improved education and training for beneficiaries will be prioritised.
- Capital Grants to assist in the mobility of the beneficiary and their general welfare are eligible.
- The Trustees usually request progress reports for on-going awards, or before a subsequent awards. The Trusts Welfare Officer to assist in this process.
The Trustees are unlikely to support financial help for none Rugby League relate diseases or injuries. Support is more likely to be given to personal rather than any commercial use of capital expenditure. Examples of assistance given include: Mobility of disabled user transport Accelerated physiotherapy to assist in long term rehabilitation Modification to a bathroom to provide a wet room for wheelchair users. Assistance to beneficiaries for educational re-training costs, to improve employment prospects. In 2005, the Fund made 6 grants totalling £33000.00.
